Touro College And New York College Sign MOU To Create Powerhouse For Patent And Technology Development

NEW YORK, May 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Touro College and University System, together with its affiliate New York Medical College, comprises one of the largest health care educational systems in the country. Touro College and New York College of Health Professions, a 30-year pioneer in holistic health care and education, today announce that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop, on a product-by-product basis, many of the cutting edge technologies that are currently part of New York College's Applied Research Center.

The products include patents recently granted that enable a small coin to expand into a bandage that turns into a cast in minutes, as well as security systems that use biometrics to sound alarms for military and security personnel. New York College also has patents pending on real-time diagnostic technologies that allow doctors to have instant access to the results of biopsies and cultures. These technologies use scopes to enlarge cells with computer graphics, feeding them to multiple databases with real-time feedback to thin film technology.

Donald Spector, Chairman of New York College, is well known as one of the most prolific inventors in the world, having opened up several billion dollar industries. Bristol-Myers Squibb, previously the Squibb Corporation, set up a separate division for his products. Spector also opened up the field of hydraulics in exercise equipment with the Bruce Jenner Exerciser, the MuscleWorker and Musclemaster. Spector has a portfolio of hundreds of patents and is highly active in computer technologies, having written the first-known patents for Location Based Advertising and the first Hyperbaric Chamber for seeds. The College also has patents from Spector to reduce contagion through the use of UV LEDs that disrupt the DNA structure of contagions in vents, specifically for cars, planes, and housing.
