WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Bernard Luskin, CEO and Senior Provost of Touro University Worldwide, today announced the inaugural TUW Commencement Ceremony to take place on Sunday afternoon, June 3, 2012 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village, California.

"We will enthusiastically celebrate the accomplishments of our first graduating class.  The majority of the 30 graduates and their families are joining classmates from across the United States plus others from as far away as Canterbury, England," Luskin proudly explained.

"When we launched TUW in 2008, President Bernard Lander had a vision of someday seeing our first graduates.  Dr. Lander passed away several years ago, but his vision has now been achieved. Our goal was to establish an online division of the Touro College and University System that provides access and opportunity for a quality, highly personalized, graduate education that is accessible to students all over the world.  This inaugural commencement memorializes this major milestone symbolizing TUW success. We look forward to expanding our student body and programs and to many more future graduates," Luskin added.

"Twenty-eight graduates have earned a Masters Degree in Media and Communication Psychology; one has completed his MA degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and one, her MBA. Some of the thirty new graduates will be meeting one another in person for the first time at commencement, even though they have spoken and participated together online," said Heather Grace Hoglund, Director of Enrollment Management and Alumni Affairs for Touro University Worldwide. "We are now forming our new TUW Alumni Association," she added.

"Media and Communication Psychology is an emerging new field. Our graduates are working professionals, many at the top of their industries in fields as diverse as Pharmaceuticals, Bio-technology, Public Relations, and Higher Education.  Graduates have already started applying their unique understanding of how social media, entertainment, and advertising impacts consumer and professional behavior.  We are teaching in direct response to current trends and our Alumni will be leading the way in this field that combines, Media, Psychology and Communication skills and knowledge," explained Dr. Toni Luskin, Chair of the Media and Communications Psychology Program.
