Transcendent Endeavors Launches The $100k Meaningful Conversations Challenge
NEW YORK, Jan. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- To enhance the early childhood development of underserved American children, Transcendent Endeavors is calling for health advocates and other change-makers to submit product ideas for the $100,000 Meaningful Conversations Challenge.
The Challenge
It is estimated that children in poor families hear nearly 30 million fewer words by age 3 than children in more well-off families. When families are not engaged in conversation, who is talking to kids about important topics such as health, nutrition and exercise? Astonishingly, children are exposed to 40,000 television commercials per year, and more than 20 advertisements each day promoting food that is high in sugar, sodium and saturated fat.
Parents can turn this around by engaging in meaningful conversations about food with their children. They can promote healthier habits and put their children on a path to lifelong success.
The Solution: You
Transcendent is inviting teams to develop effective products that can solve this twin challenge of family communication and early childhood health.

The Grand Prize Winner will be awarded a $100,000 contract, office space in NYC and mentorship over a four-month period to test the proposed solution, get to product-market fit and prove the viability of the business model. If the product shows promise, Transcendent will work with the team to explore ways to bring the product to market.
The Process
Applications for submission are due on Friday, February 13 by 11:59 PM.
In the review process, judges will base their selections on the criteria listed on the web site and the terms and conditions in the Official Rules.
Approximately 3 finalists will be chosen to present their proposed innovations at a Showcase Event in the beginning of March. In front of a live audience and judging panel, the Grand Prize Winner will be selected and announced!
