Transfer Window Betting Update From Sky Bet: Punters Back Ba for 8/11 Chelsea Move
LONDON, January 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Chelsea have emerged as 8/11 favourites with Sky Bet to sign Newcastle striker Demba Ba as the transfer window betting markets gather pace.
The former West Ham striker is currently on international duty with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, but has also been heavily backed from 8/1 to 9/4 in the January transfer window betting to join Tottenham before the end of the month.
Ba has been in excellent form for the Magpies so far this campaign, notching 15 league goals, and he is 9/1 to win the golden boot in the online betting firm's Premier League top goalscorer betting market.
Following Chelsea's below-par start to the season, the Blues have been linked with a number of key players, with Bolton captain Gary Cahill (1/5) and Lille playmaker Eden Hazard (7/2) backed to move to Stamford Bridge.
Elsewhere, Blackburn rejected a bid from QPR for skipper Chris Samba last weekend, but Rangers are still 2/3 favourites to land the imposing defender with Spurs 5/2 to snap him up.
Finally, Sky Bet have seen sustained support for Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes to leave the League One side with a number of clubs linked to the 21-year-old.
Championship promotion contenders West Ham are 5/2 joint favourites to land the Oldham-born forward with Everton available for the same price. Newcastle (3/1), Tottenham (4/1) and Sunderland (4/1) are also in the running to seal Rhodes' signature.
Sky Bet's Helen Jacob said "Ten days into the New Year and its shaping up to be a lively transfer betting window, with several of the top clubs in serious need of reinforcements and the players of numerous overachieving smaller clubs catching the eye of top managers.
"Newcastle's Demba Ba has been backed into 8/11 from 12s to sign for Chelsea, while Sky Bet punters are backing Jordan Rhodes as a possible replacement should the prolific marksman be lured away from St James' Park."
