Transform Your Holiday Menu with Tips from Bibigo's Chef Sung Ahn

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- To throw a seamless holiday gathering this season, Bibigo, creators of a full line of signature Korean grocery staples and Bibigo Korean Grill fast-casual restaurants located throughout Los Angeles, has teamed up with its corporate restaurant chef Sung Ahn to share some of his favorite ways to give holiday menus a twist, which are sure to delight taste buds and also impress guests.

"Holidays are about spending time with friends and family, but hosting parties and planning out menus can also be quite stressful," said Chef Ahn. "When prepping for a big holiday, make it really memorable by combining traditional tastes with unexpected flavors, such as pairing turkey and gravy with a bold gochujang sauce for an unusual kick. The key is to use products that offer simple, ready-in-minutes convenience, like Bibigo's collection of pantry staples, so you're not stuck in the kitchen the entire day and can step out to celebrate with your guests."

Chef Ahn recommends transforming your holiday meals from basic to unexpected with the following menu options:

• Expand appetizer offerings: While everyone loves a tasty pig in a blanket or spinach and artichoke dip, they don't offer much beyond empty carbs. Instead, opt for Mini Wontons made with fresh ingredients in delicate, thin wrappers, and filled with savory mixtures of vegetables and meat. "Bibigo's Mini Wontons are fully-cooked, heat up in minutes, and pair great with a soy or traditional Korean gochujang sauce," says Chef Ahn.
• Serve soup as a first course: "Starting a meal with soup helps to set up your palate for the courses that follow," notes Chef Ahn. If you're planning to introduce Asian flavors, begin your meal with a hot kimchi stew, such as this one served at Bibigo restaurants in Beverly Hills and Westwood.
• Reinvent the dinner salad: An easy but impressive starter is a fried dumpling salad using Bibigo's Mini Wontons; simply mix olive oil, lemon zest, salt and pepper to the fresh greens, then top with pan-fried mini wontons.
• Spice up turkey with an untraditional marinade: This season, treat your guests to unexpected flavors with a bold BBQ sauce marinade, such as Bibigo's Original, Pineapple and Hot & Spicy Korean sauces.

Available at major retailers nationwide, Bibigo products—including its flavorful BBQ sauces and Mini Wontons—enable everyday cooks to recreate their favorite Korean dishes with little effort and without having to sacrifice taste for lack of time.
