TransMedia Group Retained to Publicize a Hoodie Over a Cowboy Hat in Florida's 17th District Congressional Race
As well as his pledge to First Lady to lose another 60 Pounds before Primary
BOCA RATON, Fla., May 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TransMedia Group (www.transmediagroup.com), said it will publicize "Little" Walter Sutton's tossing his "hoodie" into the ring against the cowboy hat clad Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson, as she so famously wears in the 17th District.
TransMedia said the publicity theme will be Sutton's honoring the memory of Trayvon Martin by campaigning in a hoodie similar to the one the teen wore when he was shot to death in an altercation with a neighborhood watch volunteer. Trayvon lived in the 17th district prior to the fatal shooting.
"Sutton will campaign on his belief that there should be more hoodie respect in America as a symbol to once and for all put an end to all forms of racial profiling," said TransMedia's CEO Tom Madden.
The predominantly African American district includes the southern parts of Broward County, and the eastern parts of Miami-Dade County, encompassing Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Miramar and also North Miami.
"We intend to publicize a basketball tournament that Sutton, a former police officer and a veteran, plans to arrange between police and youths in the district, as well as his pledge to First Lady Michelle Obama to lose another 60 pounds prior to the primary election," said Madden.
The 360-pound veteran is on a diet inspired by Mrs. Obama whom he praises for illuminating the childhood obesity epidemic in America by setting goals, benchmarks, and measurable outcomes to tackle the problem 'stomach on.' Sutton plans to help with an "If I can do it" education program directed at overweight youths in the district.
