TransMedia Names Helen Ann Britton VP Business Development; Adds More Publicists to PR Staff
BOCA RATON, Fla., Feb. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TransMedia Group (www.transmediagroup.com) today named Helen Ann Britton, a former top executive at American Broadcasting Companies and Warner Bros., Vice President of Business Development.
TransMedia's CEO Tom Madden said Dr. Britton, who holds a PhD in communications from Stanford University, will be "a valuable addition to our team who brings 30 years of programming and marketing experience in video, cable, pay TV, VOD, broadband and digital media.
"As a veteran of the U.S. cable television industry, she will help to broaden our perspective on strategic business analysis that is unique to the media and entertainment industry."
Among others who recently joined TransMedia's expanding PR staff are Louise Canuto, born in Brazil, and Michelle DuPreez from South Africa. Both have strong international media and publicity backgrounds and bring unique capabilities to our public relations staff serving clients worldwide, Madden said. Currently the multilingual firm has PR campaigns in progress in Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, China and Israel.
Dr. Britton began her career as Director of Programming at Warner Bros., developing programming for the QUBE interactive cable system. QUBE was the pioneering effort that revolutionized U.S. cable television utilizing computer technology. Following this, she was Executive Director of Programming and Marketing for New Markets Development at Group W Cable, where she developed many successful franchise proposals for major U.S. cable markets. She was then Vice President of Programming at ABC Video Enterprises, acquiring feature films for network and video exhibition.
Dr. Britton has served as a consultant to the media/entertainment industry with a focus on business analysis and start-up of television programming and marketing projects.
In this capacity, she has directed various projects, both international and domestic, including: redesign strategy and implementation for the two English language channels of Singapore Broadcasting Corporation in anticipation of privatization.
Dr. Britton also directed development of launch strategy for Continental Cable/Singapore Cable; United States Representative to television privatization conferences in Spain, France and Portugal; training of new owners of private television stations and journalists in central Europe; development of license agreements, pricing and marketing strategy to bring utilities into the US cable business; market analysis and business viability studies for US media companies considering international ventures in Europe and Asia.
