Tri-City Healthcare District Partners with Surgical Care Affiliates

OCEANSIDE, Calif., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA), one of the country's largest providers of specialty surgical services, announced today it has entered into a formal agreement to partner with the Tri-City Healthcare District (TCHD) at its North Coast Surgery Center (NCSC).  The TCHD Board of Directors unanimously approved to acquire an interest in the center and the deal was completed on April 1. NCSC is an ambulatory surgery center adjacent to Tri-City Medical Center's campus on Waring Road in Oceanside.

Currently, the hospital's operating rooms handle both inpatient and outpatient surgeries, although inpatient cases are often more complex and result in unpredictable lengths of surgery, affecting surgeries scheduled after them.  NCSC has the advantage of being able to schedule predictable, outpatient surgery cases back-to-back, resulting in efficiencies – the physician can take care of more patients and the patient and family have surgery times that are more definite.
