Trish Whitcomb - Joins George K. Baum & Company's Indianapolis Office

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Investment banking firm George K. Baum & Company ("GKB") announced today that it has expanded its Indiana presence with the addition of Vice President Trish Whitcomb. Ms. Whitcomb will focus on broadening the Firm's scope of services in Indiana by serving its authorities, cities, counties, towns and school corporations.  

About Ms. Whitcomb
Prior to joining GKB, Ms. Whitcomb served as Special Advisor to Indiana's Superintendent of Public Instruction where she provided advisement on matters pertaining to career and technical education, STEM education, and literacy partnerships. She also developed the Superintendent's signature literacy initiative, Hoosier Family of Readers. Ms. Whitcomb's strong public affairs background comes from her family's history in Indiana politics. Her father, Edgar D. Whitcomb, is a former State Senator and the former Governor of Indiana.

In 2013, Ms. Whitcomb was appointed by Superintendent Ritz, and reappointed in 2015 by Governor Pence, to the State Workforce Innovation Council, which serves as an advisory board to the Department of Workforce Development. She previously held the roles of Campaign Manager and Transition Team Leader for the Ritz 4 Education Campaign, overseeing message development, scheduling and field operations, in addition to assisting with social media efforts, funding development and personnel decision counseling. Ms. Whitcomb formerly served on the Butler University Alumni Board and is currently on the Operating Board of the Indiana University Center for Civic Literacy.

Ms. Whitcomb earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Butler University and completed her coursework for a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Wyoming.
