True Health Diagnostics Showcases Its Commitment to Educating Doctors, Patients About Hereditary Cancer During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

FRISCO, Texas, Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- True Health, a leader in integrated diagnostics and healthcare services, has amplified its effort during National Breast Cancer Awareness month to educate doctors and patients about hereditary cancer risks.

Research recently published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology calculated that more than 10 million American women are at significant risk to have inherited mutations in BRCA1 or BRCA2 and have not had testing. These mutations can cause Hereditary Breast/Ovarian Cancer syndrome, which is associated with elevated lifetime risks for breast and ovarian cancers.

True Health Diagnostics, a subsidiary of True Health Group, earlier this year began offering hereditary cancer testing that can identify whether a person carries mutations in any of 26 different genes that increase the risk of developing breast, ovarian, colon, prostate, endometrial, gastric, melanoma or pancreatic cancer. True Health Diagnostics rolled out this testing platform to primary care and ob-gyn physicians, with the goal of reaching a broad group of patients who might not be aware of their hereditary cancer risks.

"Every gene we test for has been determined to be 'clinically actionable,' which means if we find out you are at risk, there are specific things you can do to reduce that risk."
