DURHAM, N.C., Dec. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Truphone, the global mobile operator without country borders, said today it has opened a sales hub and appointed new sales executives in Houston to serve companies in the United States' largest international export market.

Truphone's unique global infrastructure lets international businesses become local in more countries so subscribers can use their phones to call, text or download data just as they do at home.  Business people can stay connected, improve their productivity and reduce their international roaming costs, all while using their phones to conduct business as usual.

Truphone has identified Houston as an ideal market because of its leadership in international exports and oil and gas. Houston's international export market role is supported by numbers from the Greater Houston Partnership 2012 Economic Development Report.

Tim Raby, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Truphone, Americas, announced the new sales Houston hub.  "Truphone is an ideal telecom solution for companies that conduct business internationally," said Raby.  "Truphone offers them a compelling alternative to traditional providers, particularly when it comes to international voice and data usage. Our mobile innovations enable international businesses to stay connected to their global contacts with high quality and affordable rates, whether they are at home or abroad."

The company has U.S. headquarters near Research Triangle Park here, as well as a research and engineering center in Newark, N.J., and its U.S. operations center in Cleveland.

Truphone is the only mobile operator in the world that expands the reach of businesses beyond the borders of their home countries. Truphone achieves this by providing customers with multiple international mobile numbers on a single patented SIM card, so international contacts can reach them by making high-quality local calls at a local rate within the Truphone Zone.  The Truphone Zone includes Australia, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, the U.S. and the U.K. Outside of the Zone, Truphone offers regional bundles that provide predictable costs and higher quality network performance in key business areas including Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. Truphone's coverage spans more than 200 countries around the world. Truphone brings people closer to their international contacts, makes them more productive and gives them the international quality of service they deserve.

Headquartered in London, with U.S. headquarters near Research Triangle Park in Durham, N.C., Truphone has offices across four continents and continues to expand globally. Clients include FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies across multiple industry sectors.
