Tsinghua and Evergrande Form a Ten-Year Strategic Partnership; Setting a New Record in University-Enterprise Cooperation
BEIJING, April 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 8, Tsinghua University and Evergrande Group held a ceremony for the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement in the People's Great Hall in Beijing. What's most unusual about this signing ceremony is the level and number of the top management of Tsinghua University. Mr. Chen Jining, member of the Standing Committee of the 18th national People's Congress and President of Tsinghua University, and Mr. Hui Ka Yan, member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Evergrande Group, attended the ceremony and inaugurated Tsinghua-Evergrande Institute, marking the formal establishment of a ten-year strategic partnership between the two parties. According to the agreement, the two parties will form a long-term partnership in the fields of strategic technology, personnel training and industrial operations. In the field of strategic technology, Tsinghua University and Evergrande will launch targeted research in corporate strategic planning and operation management, construction engineering, planning and design, and construction and materials using Tsinghua-Evergrande Institute as a platform, with the view of quickening the Industrialization of the research results. The institute is one independently established, directly managed by the University and named after an enterprise, headed by a leader of the university and equipped with a research team composed of scores of globally reputed scientists.
It is also reported that Tsinghua-Evergrande Institute will apply the relevant national authorities for national recognition and patents for its research results and 30 of the patents available for practical use will be granted to Evergrande for industrialized use. In this sense, Tsinghua University serves as a wisdom library for Evergrande, the first Chinese enterprise included in the formal lesson plans of the university.
In terms of personnel training, Tsinghua University will establish a MA teaching point at the headquarters of an enterprise for the first time and offer three programs leading to degrees of MS in Engineering, MBA and MPA. In return, Evergrande will establish an internship training base for undergraduates and graduates from Tsinghua University. Tsinghua University will appoint 100 undergraduates and 50 graduates to the base for internship, social practice and employment practice.
In addition, as to the industrial operations, the two parties will seek mutual development in terms of basic education and industrial cooperation. For example, Tsinghua University agrees to establish middle schools and primary schools in property projects developed by Evergrande around the country where it is feasible. Tsinghua Holding Co., Ltd. will also offer Evergrande the prior opportunities for cooperation on selected projects in fields in which Evegrande operates.
According to insiders, the civil construction program of Tsinghua University ranks No. 1 in China and 17th in the whole world. The cooperation between the two parties will enhance Evergrande's capacity and competency in terms of ecology, energy efficiency and environmental protection and help Evergrande to build better housing projects for the public.
