QINGDAO, China, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Tsingtao Brewery Company Limited ("Tsingtao Brewery") and QSL Sports Limited ("QSL Sports") are delighted to announce that the "Tsingtao Beer QSL Charity Fund-raising Gala" held on August 14 raised over RMB12.9 million (approximately US$1.9 million), setting a new record for similar gala events organized by other Mainland China sports charity funds in 2010.

The Charity Gala was co-organized by Tsingtao Brewery, QSL Sports as well as the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF). The Gala was officiated by Tsingtao Brewery Chairman Mr JIN Zhi Gao, QSL Sports Founder and Chairman Mr Kenny HUANG and Ms WANG Min Vice President of the CYDF.

The event received overwhelming support from local and international celebrities including retired NBA player and now NBA global ambassador Dikembe Mutombo, popular singer artiste DAO Lang, model/artist Mary MA Yan Li, women's professional basketball player ZHENG Hai Xia and LI Qiu Ping, YAO Ming's long-time coach.

Some of the guests have donated autographed personal items such as uniforms, art pieces for auctioning. Funds raised at the Gala will be used to help develop and nurture young talents at Project Hope schools under the Tsingtao QSL Youth Sports Development Fund in support of the CYDF. In the past 12 months, the Tsingtao QSL Youth Sports Development Fund has raised over RMB42 million to provide sporting equipment and facilities to over 200 schools in impoverished areas to promote sports among young people.

The Gala has also set aside RMB1 million from the raised funds to provide relief to victims of the tragic mudslide in Zhouqu County, Gansu province. At the event Tsingtao Brewery also announced that the Company will match this donation to help the relief efforts.
