Turkeys, Touchdowns and InterroBANG Problem Solving

DETROIT, Nov. 24, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- On Thanksgiving Day, Detroit area public school students will kick off a new version of InterroBANG—an interactive, student-centered problem-solving game. It's one of the benefits of participating in the 2010 United Way Thanksgiving Halftime Show.

More than 300 students participating in the halftime show of the first football game of Thanksgiving Day will spend their pre-performance time at the event taking part in InterroBANG educational missions, collaborating onsite and posting their missions live on the InterroBANG site.

InterroBANG is a socially-networked, problem-solving challenge aimed at Middle School and High School students.  It was created by online game designer Nuvana, in partnership with Microsoft Partners in Learning, in collaboration with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), a federal agency that engages 1.5 million youth in service annually; Exploratorium, the interactive museum of science; and ePals.  The game involves students selecting online challenges and completing community service and "missions" in the real world and posting evidence of their work online. 

Thousands of U.S. students, teachers and schools participated in the first version of the game, showcasing new methods of developing problem solving skills, heightening creativity and arming teachers with meaningful ways to engage tech-savvy students in STEM-focused learning.  

InterroBANG will run from Thanksgiving Day until June 2011.  The game is free to play but all students must have an adult verify each student to be eligible for prizes.  InterroBANG missions are best suited for middle and high school students.  Prizes will be awarded based on points and will include an Xbox Kinect and more!
