LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, Turner Construction Company, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, and volunteers from around Los Angeles County will unite for the Turner Construction Company Build Day.  The event will bring together volunteers to build a home in Long Beach, CA for a deserving family.

This year's Turner Construction Company Build Day will provide a new home for the Lopez family.  Enrique, a housekeeping provider, and Sonia, a child care worker, have lived in the same, small one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment for the last nine years with their three children.  The Turner Construction Company Build Day will allow Enrique and Sonia Lopez to provide a decent home for their children. As Habitat for Humanity partner homeowners, the Lopez family will invest 500 hours of "sweat equity" in building their home and will qualify for a 0% interest mortgage.  This home is one of more than 380 homes that Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles has built and rehabilitated throughout the Los Angeles area since 1990.

Vice President and General Manager for Turner's Southern California office, Kevin Dow, states, "Habitat for Humanity is an exceptional community partner.  Turner employees are looking forward to using their skills and talents to make a lifelong impact for a deserving family."

Turner Construction Company is the leading general builder in the U.S., ranking first or second in all major segments of the building construction field.  Engineering News-Record currently ranks the company as the nation's largest builder of green, healthcare, education, hotels, motels & convention centers, and correctional facilities.  In 2011, Turner's Southern California office was named the top contractor in California by ENR California, and the top contractor in Los Angeles County by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
