LEESBURG, Fla., Nov. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Veteran Chef Jack Braton has brought his unique New American touch to the growing food scene in downtown Leesburg with the opening of Turners Kitchen + Bar. The restaurant is feeding the buzz about fine dining in Lake County — which is fast becoming a destination for serious Florida foodies — with its adventurous menu and Lowcountry slant.

"We're about the connection between locally sourced ingredients, the area's historic foods and making them relevant and appealing to today's diner," Braton says. "Relationships with local farmers, ranchers, fishermen and foragers are a top priority so we can meld the best free-range beef, line-caught seafood and organic vegetables into an exceptional culinary experience."

"The name of the restaurant refers to the kitchen utensil, but our venue was also the location of Turner's Bakery & Cafeteria in the 1940s and 50s," Braton notes.

Turners has given Braton the opportunity to focus decades of high-end experience on creating a low-key eatery that delivers exceptional food. Braton is well known in the culinary community as a forward-thinking, innovative chef and consultant for more than a dozen exclusive restaurants. He also has a decade of experience at Four Seasons resorts throughout the United States. At Turners, Braton is serving original variations of American favorites: tantalizing hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, hot and cold sandwiches, hearty salads and unique starters.

"We like to take things you've probably had before and change the flavor profile or add unexpected textures," Braton says. That inventiveness is on display in dishes like Fried Green Tomato Caprese, Carolina Caviar + Crab (zucchini pylons stuffed with sweet potato hoppin' john and blue crab) and Pork + Pancakes (all-natural Duroc pork chop, butternut squash johnny cakes, wilted spinach, blackstrap molasses butter). On Wednesday nights, Turners features Wild Game + Wine.

The ambiance of Turners Kitchen + Bar is rustic but elegant. The tables are hand-sanded, reclaimed wood, wood beams and accents abound and one wall features a brick mural.

"We feel like we've hit a home run with Turners," Braton says, "The feedback we're getting from diners is phenomenal. I'm having the most fun I've ever had."
