tw telecom Expands Network in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- tw telecom (NASDAQ: TWTC), a leading provider of Business Ethernet and networking solutions, today announced it is expanding its existing network reach in Memphis with the addition of nearly 100 new route miles of fiber. 

The expansion extends the company's network footprint from the city of Memphis east to Germantown and Collierville, as well as north to Millington including access and connection capabilities to the Millington Naval Base.

The company will leverage this market expansion to further deploy its industry-leading portfolio of data and Internet services to more enterprises, including its innovative Business Ethernet and Intelligent Network solutions.

The Memphis expansion is part of a national multi-market effort by the company to expand its metro fiber footprint approximately 17 percent across the country.  As part of this effort, tw telecom plans to enter into five new high-demand markets – Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond and Salt Lake City -  and accelerate the density of its metro-fiber footprint in 28 existing markets.  The company is investing this year to rapidly integrate and connect the entire 32-market expansion effort into its national network and operational infrastructure.  The company also intends to expand its sales force, including sales and support employees as well as additional operations personnel to support this project.
