CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich., June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Tweddle Group announced the hiring of a new Chief Innovation Officer to guide the development of new connected-car technology. Over sixty years of authoring and publishing owner's information, Tweddle has continually embraced technological innovation. Now the company aims to catapult its considerable knowledge base and OEM client roster into the connected ecosystem.
New Chief Innovation Officer Ty Beltramo will lead this charge. "Tweddle has a lot of advantages," Beltramo says. "The goal is to take those advantages, all this data they've authored and this massive knowledge base, and weave it together into a really cool strategy for products that make a difference."
Beltramo's perspective on technology is both high-minded and practical, thanks to extensive experience in both the conceptual and engineering sides of the business. As Chief Architect of Onstar, he shepherded that product from an aftermarket model to a factory-installed standard feature for General Motors. He executed geospatial systems design for Tele Atlas. He also founded his own iOS app development company in 2008 and, as CTO of MapQuest, reworked MapQuest's entire mobile presence, including much of its backend technology stack.
"Tweddle is pleased to be able to attract one of the connected vehicle industry's leading technologists and proven innovators," said Paul Wilbur, President and CEO of Tweddle Group, Inc.
Beltramo will operate out of Tweddle's Novi location, the hub of their emerging product activities. He was drawn to the company's current mission, which he sees as very relevant. "People spend so much time in their cars," he says. "How do you improve that experience? The way we integrate with our cars is important. It matters. There's a real opportunity here to make a difference in people's lives."
As for the approach he'll take, Beltramo has a proven strategy. "You take talented, creative people and give them important problems to solve in a safe environment," says Beltramo. "That's the innovation mentality and that's where the fun stuff starts to happen. You create products that matter, products nobody's thought of yet."
Paul Wilber went on to say, "Under Ty's leadership, we anticipate moving our product road-map further, faster and more effectively than other service providers supporting OEM in-vehicle content. Having a strong focus on vehicle connectivity and consumer interaction inside the vehicle, we are going to revolutionize owner and service information delivery."
