Unisys to Deliver New Information System to Dutch Custodial Institutions Service

All custodial sites across the Netherlands will be served by secure and user friendly system to improve working with litigants

BLUE BELL, Pa., April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that after a European tender it has been selected by the Netherlands' Custodial Institutions Service (Dienst Justitiële Inrichtingen, or DJI) to deliver a new custody management solution for penitentiaries across the country. The new system is expected to be delivered later in 2016 for roll-out across the penitentiary network in 2017.

The new contract will run for up to 10 years, with the option of a 10 year extension. Under the terms of the agreement Unisys will support all aspects of custody management for DJI using the Unisys Law Enforcement Application Framework (U-LEAF).

Once the solution is live, the entire organization will have a single integrated view of litigants which will enable cooperation with parties such as care providers, lawyers and policing and law enforcement agencies. The system will also improve the efficiency of prison management activities such as enrollment of new litigants, assigning cells, visitor requests, transfers and leave requests.

This new contract builds on Unisys' expertise in the Justice and Law Enforcement sector. Unisys collaborated with DJI in 2014 and implemented its LEIDA (Library of Electronic ID Artifacts) framework to support The Basic Provision Biometrics program in the Netherlands. The Basic Provision program uses biometric data, such as fingerprints, to verify litigants' identities during their time in custody.

U-LEAF is currently being used by law enforcement, military, security and other intelligence and investigative agencies for investigations, automation of workflows and information, intelligence mining and analytics, collaboration and teamwork, scaling operations, security and auditing, mobility, compliance management and deployment options including on premise or via the cloud.
