United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey Surpasses Campaign Goal

PHILADELPHIA, June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) capped its first year as a new organization by surpassing its campaign goal with a total of more than $61.4 million, just 12 months after seven local United Ways joined together to improve education, income and health throughout the region. The total represents an increase of more than $1.5 million. 

"This campaign is a prime example of the whole truly being greater than the sum of its parts," says Jill Michal, president and CEO of UWGPSNJ. "Together, we're driving measurable, lasting impact that none of us can achieve alone."

The campaign's success is due in large part to a dedicated group of volunteers who drove awareness of UWGPSNJ's mission and participation in the workplace campaign — which helps employers provide their employees with philanthropic investment opportunities.
