Unium Launches New Home WiFi Software Solution- Alphabet's Access Team Explores as Others Adopt
SEATTLE, Dec. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Unium launches today in Seattle with a software solution that improves WiFi performance in the home. Home environments have multiple complexities that interfere with WiFi performance for consumers. Our software addresses these complexities without the need for you to purchase additional hardware. Unium software deploys, extends and optimizes your WiFi ensuring that your network is fast, reliable and frustration-free.
"Like many people, we had difficulties with the WiFi in our homes including dead spots, buffering of movies, and music that stopped mid-song. In 2013, we decided to solve these problems based on our decade of experience working with the U.S. Department of Defense to solve their wireless and security problems. People deserve better WiFi," says John Stachowiak, CEO of Unium. "That's the mentality that Google Fiber and our other customers have, too."
More than 50% of people report having issues with their home WiFi1 and the issues will increase as more devices connect to the internet. Unium solves issues such as slow spots or dead spots in the home with software that helps customers position their devices, creates a secure mesh network, and steers devices to their optimal path back to the internet. This ensures that consumers have the Wifi they deserve.
"Unium will be a driver in creating better connected home experiences," says Riley Eller, CTO of Unium.
Unium software works with the same open standards that have made wireless internet possible, and will work across a variety of wireless chipsets, processors and operating systems to improve whole home WiFi. The software was created for embedded and low power applications so it uses minimal CPU and RAM. It provides network-wide configuration management, mesh-range extension and steering of clients to the optimal path back to the internet. Unium software is available to license by feature or as an all-in-one package.
"Software is the future of WiFi," says Martha Bejar, who joined the Unium Board on December 16th. "I've been in the networking and telecommunications industry for more than two decades and saw it transform both industries. Unium will revolutionize the home network as well."
Unium will announce a full slate of partners as new devices launch with Unium in the coming months.
