Univar Acquires Key Chemical, Inc.

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. and WAXHAW, N.C., April 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Univar USA Inc., a leading distributor of basic chemicals, specialty products, and related chemistry services, announced today it has acquired all of the outstanding stock of Key Chemical, Inc., one of the largest suppliers of hydrofluosilicic acid (fluoride) in the U.S. Key Chemical also supplies other chemistries to the municipal water, industrial, and oil and gas markets. The acquired business will be combined with Univar USA's operations.

Founded in 2002, Key Chemical specializes in blends of hydrofluosilicic acid that are UL certified to meet NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for use in water treatment fluoridation. Through a secondary storage facility, the company also has the ability to store up to 500,000 gallons of inventory, providing security of supply for its regional customer base. The company has headquarters in Waxhaw, N.C.
