Universal Protection Service Employee Assists in Baby Delivery at Metropolitan Transit System in San Diego

Delgado, went above and beyond the call of duty recently when he helped a woman deliver her baby girl.

When Transit Systems Security Officer Delgado and his Code Compliance partner Patricia Alamillo were on patrol at the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) in San Diego, they came across a pregnant woman who was in labor and in need of medical assistance. They immediately called central control and requested paramedics respond to their location. However, when it soon became evident that the woman would not be able to wait for emergency services to arrive, Delgado and Alamillo used their emergency training skills to help her deliver the baby and assist her and the newborn until paramedics arrived.

"They saw what was happening, jumped right in and handled the situation extraordinarily well," said Chief of MTS Police Bill Burke. "I'm very proud!"
