University of Dayton Announces Speakers for R.I.S.E. XI Investment Forum March 31-April 2

DAYTON, Ohio, Jan. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At the University of Dayton's R.I.S.E. XI Global Investment Forum finance students have a chance to do more than listen to financial experts. The innovative forum sparks spirited debate among panelists and students and an instant poll asks students for their economic forecasts and market predictions.

Now in its 11th year, R.I.S.E. (Redefining Investment Strategy Education) has grown into the largest student investment forum in the world — so big that part of the event is held in a basketball arena. The forum slated for March 31 through April 2 at the University of Dayton will bring together students, faculty and leading investment professionals to share knowledge in an interactive format.

Mark Sniderman, executive vice president and chief policy officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, will speak at noon Thursday, March 31, on the Federal Reserve Perspective.

"Our approach helps finance professionals as well as students keep pace with industry trends and changes in the world economy," said Matthew Shank, dean of the University's School of Business Administration. "The speakers represent a broad spectrum of perspectives on topics that affect business and finance including risk management and responsibility to society."

For the first time, specialized breakout sessions will highlight research presentations by finance, accounting and economics faculty.

Through an on-site instant poll, students will be asked for market and economic predictions with results shared almost immediately.

The United Nations Global Compact cosponsors the forum. The U.N. Global Compact is a voluntary corporate responsibility initiative focused on the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. The compact brings companies together with U.N. agencies, labor and civil society to advance universal social and environmental principles.

In the 10-year history of R.I.S.E., the forum has attracted nearly 13,000 total participants from the financial industry and colleges and universities from around the globe.

March 31. Students and faculty will stay through noon April 2 for specialized breakout sessions, workshops, networking, a career strategies forum and an optional portfolio competition.
