Unlikely Collaborators Announces Grant to Support Mindfulness First's "Making Mindfulness Accessible" Initiative

LOS ANGELES, June 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Unlikely Collaborators has awarded a grant to Mindfulness First to support their groundbreaking initiative, Making Mindfulness Accessible (MMA), aimed at expanding the reach of mindfulness practices to marginalized populations with diverse learning needs, including those who are blind/visually-impaired or deaf/hard of hearing. This transformative 36-month project seeks to rejuvenate and expand Mindfulness First's curriculum to make mindfulness practices equitable and accessible to all. News of the grant was announced today to coincide with Deafblind Awareness Week and Helen Keller's birthday (June 27).

Mindfulness First has an 11-year legacy of delivering mental health education to underserved communities, primarily in Title 1 K-12 schools and Special Education settings. With the support of Unlikely Collaborators, MMA will address critical gaps in current mindfulness resources by developing inclusive materials, offering specialized training, and fostering environments where individuals of all abilities and backgrounds feel welcome and supported. The curriculum can be accessed through online trainings that will launch globally in 2027 following pilot testing with select partners in 2026.
