UrbanCode Announces the Launch of Terraform™

CLEVELAND, July 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- UrbanCode, the global leader in enterprise build, deploy, and release automation, today announced the launch of Terraform.  The open source software, made available under the Apache 2.0 license, satisfies the need for one-click provisioning of environments for IT teams everywhere.

Terraform was created in response to increasing demand for the rapid creation of virtual environments. Traditionally, manually provisioning a virtual environment could take anywhere from days to several weeks, depending on the size and complexity. This has quickly become an insupportable process given the accelerated demands of businesses for faster releases. 

Terraform lets teams slash environment provisioning times from weeks to minutes by automating these time-consuming operations. The process is simple and repeatable: define your virtual machines, startup scripting, and networking rules in an XML template, and then you can spin up as many test environments as you need – one at a time, or in parallel. Terraform currently works on top of Amazon EC2 and VMWare vSphere, with integrations for additional providers planned for future releases.

Terraform exposes provisioning of an environment as a self-service.
