Register for June 3 online event
DENVER, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov 2.0 is bringing agility and transparency to bureaucracy, which is the subject of a NewsGator Tomoye webinar on Thursday featuring a Q&A with a knowledge management thought leader from the United States Agency for International Development.
The webinar, titled "The Benefits of Gov 2.0," will include a conversation with Sarah Schmidt, participation and outreach manager for USAID's "Capitalizing Knowledge, Connecting Communities (CK2C)" program. Her agency's FRAMEweb.org uses NewsGator's Tomoye collaborative computing software to power an online community of practice for natural resource management practitioners. The network facilitates knowledge transfer, training, and relationship-building around natural resources development challenges. Users hold discussions on a wide range of community topics; find and follow other members; and share research, success stores, videos, links and more.
NewsGator VP Eric Sauve will join Schmidt in the webinar, detailing additional use cases from NewsGator customers like the US Army, US Air Force, and US General Services Administration, all of which are experiencing the daily benefits of collaborative computing.
The live webinar takes place June 3, 2010 at 2:00 pm ET. To register, visit http://fwd4.me/QDn. The session will be archived here for access afterward.
Tomoye provides easy tools to manage internal communities with discussion, blogs, wikis, rich profiles, RSS feeds, bookmarking, search and user engagement components.
The session will demonstrate how Gov 2.0 initiatives can:
- engage knowledge experts and learners for professional training and development
- spur innovation through mass collaboration and professional forums
- expedite knowledge discovery and decision making by bridging geographic and organizational boundaries
Schmidt has a master's degree in international relations, served in Peace Corps in Panama working in economic development, and led Development Alternative Inc.'s (DAI) corporate knowledge management efforts before joining the CK2C and FRAME initiatives.
