WASHINGTON, April 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following is the daily "Profile America" feature from the U.S. Census Bureau:
MONDAY, APRIL 4: MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT
Profile America — Monday, April 4th. One of the most prestigious tournaments on the golfing calendar each year is the Masters, beginning today. Held annually since 1934 at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, the tournament was created by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts. Winners are able to don the fabled green jacket worn by club members since 1937. The first champion awarded the jacket was Sam Snead. This year's competition will be watched to see if Tiger Woods has fully recovered from his recent personal setbacks. There are more than 19,000 golf courses and country clubs across the nation. Close to 26 million people play golf each year on these facilities. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau, online at www.census.gov.
