WASHINGTON, Oct. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following is the daily "Profile America" feature from the U.S. Census Bureau:
WORK FROM HOME WEEK
Profile America — Sunday, October 2nd. For many generations, weekday mornings have meant a routine of preparation, and then facing an ever-lengthening round-trip commute to work. However, a small but growing number of Americans are not in that situation — and that's why tomorrow begins National Work From Home Week. Available mostly to so-called white-collar occupations, employers all over the country have found that technology has enabled grateful and motivated employees to perform necessary work without their physical presence in an office setting. There are nearly 159 million civilian workers in the U S. Around 4.5 percent work at least one day per week at home, a reported 30 percent while in pajamas. Nearly half of those working exclusively in their homes are self-employed. You can find more facts about America's people, places and economy, from the American Community Survey, at www.census.gov.
