U.S. Marine Corps Selects ATK's BLACKHAWK! SERPA Holster System
ATK Teams with SEK Solutions to Win Marine Corps SERPA Holster System Contract
ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ATK (NYSE: ATK) announced that its BLACKHAWK! branded SERPA holster system was chosen for a $3.5 million U.S. Marine Corps contract. ATK will deliver over 27,000 SERPA holster kits and nearly 3,000 maintenance kits to SEK Solutions, which secured the Marine Corps contract. Work will be performed in Bozeman, Montana and initial orders are expected to ship in December of 2011.
"Being chosen by the Marines is a tremendous honor," said ATK Security and Sporting Group President Ron Johnson. "Tens of thousands of BLACKHAWK! SERPAs have been used by U.S. and NATO forces with an impeccable performance record. SERPA provides the technology and edge required by warriors on today's modern battlefield."
The SERPA holster design has been proven in military conflicts and law enforcement situations worldwide. U.S. Special Operations Command selected this line in October of 2009, and multiple city and international police departments have also chosen SERPA.
This unique product features an intuitive and ergonomic reactive draw, multi-level retention, and a modular design to accommodate several platforms. Commonality of training throughout the SERPA line is another key feature Marines will take advantage of as they upgrade to this advanced new holster system. Additionally, maintenance and upkeep in any environment is very basic. The new BLACKHAWK! holster kits will allow Marines the flexibility to position the M9A1 in a thigh or belt mounted position or place on most MOLLE attachments (predominantly chest mounted).
