US Navy Information Chief Joins Former National Incident Commander for Hurricane Katrina and BP Oil Spill to Headline National Summit on Strategic Communications

WASHINGTON, March 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The US Navy Chief of Information will deliver a keynote address at the National Summit on Strategic Communications on Tuesday, April 17, in Washington DC. Admiral Dennis J. Moynihan – who is principal spokesman for the Department of the Navy and provides strategic communication counsel to the secretary of the Navy and the chief of Naval Operations – will use current events, both foreign and domestic, to illustrate how strategic communications and new technologies are integral to advancing the Navy mission and brand.

Also delivering a keynote – on Monday, April 16 – is Thad Allen, Senior Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton. Admiral Allen is retired commandant of the US Coast Guard. He was the National Incident Commander for the nation's responses to Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
In his remarks, "Leadership, Strategy and Communication: The Ingredients for Success in a Complex World," Admiral Allen will share insights and lessons learned from his efforts to create a unified response among state and local governments, the EPA, DHS, DOD, as well as the Departments of Interior, Commerce, and Health and Human Services.
The two-day Summit assembles some of the nation's top leaders on issues and opportunities facing company executives, military commanders and government agencies. The objective is to share and compare best practice for effective communication with more impact using proven strategies and today's latest technologies.
