WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in rankings and consumer advice, and Best Lawyers, the world's only purely peer-review™ guide to top talent in the legal profession, today announced their new collaboration, the U.S. News Lawyer Directory – powered by Best Lawyers. Coming in early 2018, the directory will serve as a comprehensive guide to the more than 1.3 million lawyers currently working in private practice throughout the United States.

As part of U.S. News, the directory will become the definitive resource for those in need of legal assistance in any jurisdiction and area of practice. Lawyers will appear in the U.S. News Lawyer Directory at no cost and will not be ranked. Attorneys may elect to purchase an expanded profile to provide more information to U.S. News Lawyer Directory users. In addition, the highly vetted lawyers recognized by Best Lawyers (the top 4% of attorneys in private practice) will have the opportunity to publicly commend other lawyers, creating a valuable resource unlike any existing online lawyer list.

U.S. News' and Best Lawyers' collaboration began eight years ago with the publication of the first edition of "Best Law Firms," the premier law firm rankings guide in the U.S. Since then, "Best Law Firms" rankings have become key indicators of quality and knowledge throughout the legal profession. The Eighth Edition of "Best Law Firms" will be published November 1, 2017, accessible through bestlawfirms.usnews.com.
