U.S. Senate Lobbyist Tells the Good and Evil of Super PACs

American congressional lobbyist Cary Lee Peterson tells PoliWatch his opinion on why Super PACs can be good and bad for politics

WASHINGTON, DC, Dec. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - The 2016 presidential elections are around the corner and talks of whether or not super PACs and lobbyists are healthy or bad for the climate are still in limbo. Despite that fact there are still some political activists and PAC supporters as Cary Lee Peterson, founder of Ready for Bernie Sanders 2016, who believe there are good and bad scenarios to the federal acceptance of political action committees on the Hill.

The year started with several PACs registered with Federal Election Commission that endorsed many of the presidential candidates that are on the ballot today. Presidential candidates as Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Donald Trump opposed super PACs, while former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and various Republican presidential candidates were steadfast to accept political support from them.

Americans Socially United chief director Cary Peterson, who recently legalized medical marijuana in Micronesia interviewed with PoliWatch and said that 'he's only here to help, he was the original Bernie Sanders supporter even before Sanders announced his candidacy in April', and went furthermore to say that he had more followers and likes on his pro-Sanders social media pages than Bernie Sanders, himself this time six months ago. Peterson's comments were very blunt; he says 'he now hopes for the best for Sanders, still supports his campaign, and he feels slightly betrayed and misunderstood by the Bernie camp management that has used ActBlue a super PAC that collects all of Bernie Sanders' donations. Despite Senator Bernie Sanders government website that acknowledged Peterson's support prior to April 30th when Bernie Sanders announced he was running for president there is no acknowledgment of their stance on the pre-Sanders presidential candidacy following.

"Super PACs are horrible when you're endorsing someone who is not qualified or worthy of being elected. Whereas, PACs are good for leveraging the odds" says Peterson.  He continues to state, "When Clinton had ten years to prepare for this election contest Sanders had less than one. My prediction originally was that Hollywood and small businesses in America would band together to enable the true candidate to be exposed. Let's give him a chance to be known to every registered voter. Trump and Clinton are already there. They have had a fair chance. Sanders has been infamous in U.S. Congress for two decades and not been judged, scrutinized, or given credit for anything he's done for America. That's why I'm around and weighed in for this election. He needs a fair opportunity to weigh in for the Primary election; this is not a case of the tortoise and the hare."

Americans Socially United has established a social media compilation of a few million followers over the last year yet has received the most scrutiny from various media publications on everything from James Bonds' donation to purchasing a digital billboard ad for Bernie Sanders in Time Square Manhattan.

The bottom is that super PACs can manipulate the elections, whether from Democrat or Republican PAC supporters. They can be used to dominate TV and radio airwaves, in addition to overshadowing the other candidates in the race; is this fair or foul play?
