USA Crowned Champions In The Wealth-X "World Cup Of Wealth"

LONDON, June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Although the United States has never won the FIFA World Cup, Team USA was crowned champions of the Wealth-X World Cup of Wealth with more than 65,500 ultra high net worth (UHNW) individuals, beating runner-up Germany, which is home to 17,820 UHNW individuals.

The Wealth-X World Cup of Wealth pitted the same 32 countries that are vying in the FIFA tournament against each other in a competition to see which country has the largest population of UHNW individuals (defined as those with assets at least US$30 million).

Japan finished in third place with more than 14,000 ultra wealthy individuals, followed by England which has approximately 10,000 UHNW individuals on the World Cup of Wealth Wall Chart drawn up by Wealth-X, the world's leading UHNW intelligence and prospecting firm, using data from the Wealth-X and UBS World Ultra Wealth Report.

England is the only country in the top four that has super rich footballers competing at this year's FIFA World Cup in Brazil, namely Wayne Rooney with an estimated net worth of US$95 million, Frank Lampard (US$60 million) and Steven Gerrard (US$55 million).

Collectively, the 32 countries competing at this year's FIFA World Cup have a total UHNW population of 143,135 UHNW individuals, accounting for more than 70% of the global UHNW population.

Brazil is the most successful national team with five FIFA World Cup titles under its belt. However, in the Wealth-X World Cup of Wealth, Brazil, which has 4,015 UHNW individuals, only made it to the quarter-final.
