uSens Kicks Off $200,000 App Development Contest, the "uDev Challenge"

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- uSens, Inc., a pioneer in developing natural hand-and-head tracking technologies for Augmented and Virtual Reality (ARVR), has launched its uDev Challenge to encourage software developers in the U.S. and China to create unique augmented and virtual reality apps. Applicants must use the uSens Software Development Kit (SDK) and new uSens Fingo module for integrating cutting-edge hand and head position tracking technology. The uDev Challenge offers a total of $200,000 in cash prizes shared between the two regional competitions.

Prizes in each region include:

• A grand prize of $50,000
• A second prize of $25,000
• A third prize of $10,000
• Cash prizes for additional runner-up finalists

Timeline for the uDev Challenge in the U.S.:

• October 15, 2016: Deadline for applications to the uDev Challenge via the uSens website
• November 1, 2016: Announcement of U.S. semifinalists during the Unity Unite 2016 event in Los Angeles
• January 27, 2017: Deadline for semifinalists to submit app projects to uSens
• February 27-March 3, 2017: Announcement of grand prize winner and other finalists during the Game Developer Conference (GDC) in San Francisco

Original apps made for Samsung Gear VR™, Google Cardboard™, HTC Vive™, or Oculus Rift™ are eligible for the contest. They may target any industry —gaming, education, enterprise, healthcare, or other use cases— as long as the app is developed using the uSens SDK and entry-level Fingo. Apps will be evaluated based on their creativity, user experience, overall polish, business potential, and the application of uSens hand-tracking technologies. The Fingo device and support will be provided by the uSens engineering team.
