Utimaco Launches a New Dimension of Payment HSMs

Payment HSM Solution Featuring Open API - for EMV

At this year's CARTES America on April 23, Utimaco Safeware AG is announcing the launch of its new Public Payment Program for Payment HSMs. As the only vendor in the market, Utimaco offers with the Public Payment Program a freely available Payment HSM solution featuring an open API. The Public Payment Program consists of a complete solution package for Payment HSM which can be tested upfront - free of charge and including the open API.

What's more, the executable payment package will also be made available for the standard product range SafeGuard SecurityServer. This means that customers will receive the basic framework of a payment solution for the price of a standard HSM.

The market for payment solutions and payment security is extremely dynamic. Changes and expansions of card-based networks require continuous adaptation to Hardware Security Modules and their interfaces.

Fixed interfaces for Payment HSMs frequently slow down the fast and cost-efficient implementation of new demands. On account of this, they can also cause considerable costs due to adaptation to existing applications.

"We've realized that an open interface for Payment HSM is necessary for being able to perform precise adaptations quickly. At the same time, planning security, in terms of total cost of ownership, is emphasized - from the very first test to ongoing operation. The Public Payment Program consists of three components: The standard HSM SafeGuard SecurityServer by Utimaco forms the foundation. Building on this, the program includes a complete solution package for basic payment HSMs. Together with the open API supplied, the program delivers a fully scalable security system for payment solutions. Furthermore, the SecurityServer's attractive price means that a lower total investment is required, freeing up budget money for tailoring the product.

The second component of the Public Payment Program: registered potential customers receive access to Utimaco's free software simulator, with no obligation to buy. This ensures transparency and provides planning security.

Third, as need requires, Utimaco is also able to refer authorized Payment Partners from its network. The partners are specialists from various fields within the payment sector; they not only have all the necessary tools for adaptation of the API, they are also trained experts with extensive project experience.
