Valley National Bancorp Appoints Ronald H. Janis to Senior Executive Vice President - General Counsel

WAYNE, N.J., Jan. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Valley National Bancorp (NYSE: VLY) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Valley National Bank, announced today the appointment of Ronald H. Janis as Senior Executive Vice President – General Counsel.

A recognized expert on bank and securities regulation as well as corporate governance, Mr. Janis brings many years of experience to his new position at Valley. As the Company's General Counsel, he will be responsible for counseling senior management on a number of issues including acquisitions, federal securities law, regulatory matters and corporate governance.

Before joining Valley, Mr. Janis served as a partner in the Corporate and Business Department of Day Pitney LLP for over 20 years where he represented Valley. During that period he became a regular speaker at the highly regarded annual Bank Director "Acquire or Be Acquired" conference.

Mr. Janis received his Bachelor's Degree from Harvard College and his Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law. He has served as a member of the Lawyers Counsel of the Financial Services Roundtable and, through his law firm, an associate member of the Institute of International Bankers. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Committee on Federal Regulation of Securities and an author for its Task Force on Governance Issues in Business Combinations. He served two terms on the Banking Law Section of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
