WILLIAMSBURG, Va., Oct. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- There's sure to be plenty of little skeletons and ghosts running around in search of candy this Halloween. X-Ray machines at several Velocity Urgent Care centers across Virginia will be looking at something other than skeletons for once. They'll be screening your child's candy for potentially dangerous items. This free service will be available in select Velocity Urgent Care centers on Wednesday, October 31st and Thursday, November 1st after the Trick-Or-Treat festivities are complete. Parents can bring their kids anytime between 2:00-8:00pm on those days to have their Halloween candy x-ray'd. Participating locations include: Norfolk (Wards Corner), Suffolk, South Boston, Virginia Beach (Town Center), and Woodbridge. No appointment is necessary to have your child's candy screened, just stop in when you're done Trick-Or-Treating.
With alarming news reports of Halloween candy being laced with needles, pins, glass, or other foreign objects, parents have reason to be concerned. Having the candy x-ray'd will identify any potential danger before your kids dig into their goodies. This will help put parent's minds at ease and ensure Halloween can be a fun night for everyone with all treats and no tricks. Waiver is required and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The candy isn't the only one getting quality treatment at Velocity Urgent Care over this Halloween weekend. While you're there to have your child's candy x-ray'd, they will get to learn about how the x-ray machine works. They'll also get to meet our friendly, caring healthcare providers (and show off their spooky costumes). You'll get to learn more about what other services Velocity has to offer you and your family.
Should your night of Trick-Or-Treating not go as planned, Velocity has your back. We welcome walk-ins with short wait times for a wide variety of common injuries and health problems that might show up on Halloween.
