Vernier Expands Its Offering of Wireless Sensors for Tablets

BEAVERTON, Ore., Oct. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To help teachers and students further leverage mobile devices in the science and STEM classroom, Vernier Software & Technology has expanded its line of wireless sensors with the Go Wireless pH® and the NODE+ CO₂ Gas and Thermocouple sensor modules. The Go Wireless pH is a rugged, general purpose sensor designed to remotely conduct pH measurements using supported Bluetooth® Smart ready devices such as the LabQuest 2 or iPad®. The NODE+ sensor modules are compatible with the NODE Wireless Platform and Vernier's Graphical Analysis^TM for iPad^® and iPhone®, as well as a collection of iOS and Android^TM apps from Variable, Inc.

Using the Go Wireless pH, teachers and students can remotely monitor and collect pH data. Students equipped with iPad can investigate acids and bases, conduct water quality studies, and perform other experiments using the versatile Go Wireless pH sensor.

The Go Wireless pH is supported by a free iOS app. With a quick setup, this simple app allows students to view and record pH measurements. The sensor is also compatible with Graphical Analysis for iPad, which is currently available for purchase on the App Store. Using this app, students can save data, perform curve fits, annotate graphs, perform statistical calculations, and export data for further analysis.

In addition to the Go Wireless pH, Vernier has also released the NODE+ CO₂ Gas and Thermocouple sensor modules for use with the NODE Wireless Sensor Platform and Graphical Analysis app. The CO₂ Gas sensor module measures CO₂ gas concentration in air and can be used for many of the same experiments written for the Vernier CO₂ Gas Sensor. The Thermocouple, which can be placed in extreme environments such as liquid nitrogen, measures air and water temperatures ranging from -200°C to 1200°C.
