Veterans Take Advantage of Expanded Military Discount

DETROIT, June 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 8,000 U.S. military veterans have purchased a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac by taking advantage of General Motors' enhanced Military Discount Program, which runs through June 30. All active-duty military, reservists, retirees and veterans – regardless of separation date – are eligible. 

"We anticipate many more will use the discount through the end of the month," said Steve Hill, GM vice president of U.S. sales and service. "It's our small way of thanking those who have made so many sacrifices for the safety and security of our nation."

In May, National Military Appreciation Month, GM extended military pricing to the more than 21 million U.S. veterans from all five service branches. After June 30, the discount applies to active-duty, reserve and retired military personnel, and veterans within a year of their separation date.

First offered in 2008, the GM Military Discount Program features a discount price below the manufacturer's suggested retail for eligible vehicles.

"I'm pleased to see so many of our current and former service members taking advantage of the industry's best military discount to purchase vehicles for themselves and their families."

The military discount can be combined with most current customer incentives, which vary by region. USAA members are eligible for an additional $750 discount. Eligible buyers must take delivery by June 30, 2014.
