Vibes and Chipotle Win Bronze 2017 North America Smarties Award for "Burrito A Friend" Campaign
Vibes and Chipotle's mobile engagement campaign recognized by the Mobile Marketing Association for business impact and marketing strategy excellence
CHICAGO, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Vibes, the leading mobile engagement platform for enterprises, today announced its "Burrito A Friend" campaign with Chipotle received a Bronze 2017 North America Smarties Award from the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA). Vibes and Chipotle were honored in the Marketing Strategy category for excellence in Relationship Building / CRM.
"Burrito A Friend" provided an innovative mobile experience for Chipotle customers to share their love of burritos with friends. The campaign, powered by the Vibes Mobile Engagement Platform, drove tremendous business impact – the most critical element in determining which campaigns win a Smarties. It helped Chipotle drive overall mobile subscriber growth 2.4X higher than 2015 and grew mobile wallet installs by 4.2 million.

For "Burrito A Friend," Chipotle invited its mobile subscribers to create a customized digital card for a friend and share it through their native messaging app. Friends could enter information to receive a buy-one-get-one-free offer and sign up to receive Chipotle mobile alerts, while the original subscriber received free chips and salsa for sharing the card. Chipotle and Vibes integrated unique tracking links and codes into each distributed offer to gain insights as customers saved and redeemed the mobile wallet coupons.
"Burrito A Friend" was selected to the shortlist from hundreds of submissions representing campaigns in over 30 countries, and earned the Bronze distinction from the MMA's independent jury, which is comprised of 27 senior brand and agency professionals. Vibes and Chipotle were honored yesterday at the Global Smarties Celebration of Talent during the MMA SM2 Innovation Summit in New York City.
