VideoLabs Acquires Foundational Network Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Patent Portfolio from Ericsson

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- VideoLabs, Inc., through its newly formed subsidiary Certitude Networks, LLC, today announced that it has acquired a worldwide portfolio of 332 assets representing 89 patent families from Ericsson. Ericsson developed this portfolio through over two decades of sustained and focused R&D that predicted and paved the way for the transition from fixed-function hardware to virtualized, cloud-native infrastructure. As a result, the portfolio covers broad technology areas that today operate at the heart of platforms run by hyperscalers and cloud providers, networking and infrastructure companies, and network security providers. The patented inventions in the portfolio solve many of the technical challenges facing core technologies central to today's software-defined networks, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud computing platforms, content delivery networks, and data centers.

In particular, the portfolio covers numerous cutting-edge technologies, including software-defined networking (SDN) and programmable network control, network function virtualization (NFV), service chaining, cloud and data center resource creation and orchestration, storage provisioning and data replication. The portfolio is also relevant to container virtualization and container security, network performance monitoring and analytics, traffic engineering, load balancing and quality of service, and network security, including DDoS defense, distributed-attack detection, key management, and secure isolation. 

Certitude Networks will offer licenses to this portfolio to the companies that build and operate the world's cloud and networking infrastructure.
