Vigilant, Inc. Unveils Application Security Monitoring Services

Application Risk Management and Monitoring Suite Helps Organizations Minimize Losses Associated with Cybercrime

Feb 14, 2013, 10:50 ET from Merritt Group

NEW YORK, Feb. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Vigilant, a provider of managed security monitoring and threat intelligent services, today announced the availability of its Application Risk Management and Monitoring (ARMM) suite of services. Developed in response to requests by large enterprise clients, Vigilant's solution enables clients to centrally monitor the security state of critical applications and more rapidly detect cyber threats and fraud.

"Most critical business applications were never designed with security in mind, and in most organizations, application security is a sort of lost stepchild; no single team really accepts ownership of it, so basic security processes fall through the cracks," said Keith Brogan, Vigilant's director of professional services. "As cybercrime and fraud become more costly, application security monitoring must become a critical component of a comprehensive defense strategy. Application monitoring programs give business owners the visibility they need and improve the likelihood that malicious activity can be caught quickly in order to minimize damage."

Vigilant ARMM services have been developed through practical experience working with several financial services organizations. They include a risk-focused review of the application, an initial planning phase that engages stakeholders in prioritizing the applications and their components. In a second phase, Vigilant analyzes the way people and business processes interact with each application to determine how to detect abnormal or abusive activity. In the deployment stages, application parsers are built to enable application logs to be collected by the SIEM (security information and event management) platform, or other monitoring technologies, and monitoring rules, alerts and reports are configured.

"From a risk management perspective, the application is the gateway to sensitive business information," said Vigilant CTO Joe Magee. "Stealing data, money, or intellectual property over the network almost always involves misuse or penetration of a business application – and yet a variety of technical and organizational challenges make these projects daunting for most organizations to handle. We are pleased to be able to help our clients solve these problems with our new application security monitoring suite."

ARMM services are available immediately through on-site professional services. Clients of Vigilant's Fusion managed services  may opt to bundle some portions of ARMM services through their annual subscription contract. More information on Vigilant ARMM services can be found here:
