Viguerie Blasts National GOP Leaders: Republicans Not Nationalizing Election

MANASSAS, Va., Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Richard A. Viguerie, conservative direct marketing pioneer and author of "TAKEOVER, The 100-Year War for the Soul of the GOP and How Conservatives Can Finally Win It," today released an op-ed on www.conservativehq.com blasting the national leadership of the Republican Party for failing to nationalize the 2014 midterm election and missing a once in a lifetime opportunity to brand the Democratic Party as the party of government and blame Obama and the Democrats for its failures.

Rather than nationalize the election Republican leaders are engaged in a "prevent defense" in which they plan to "move to the center" and sit on the ball between now and the election, noted Viguerie, citing media reports.

"The result of this content-free, stand for nothing strategy is that despite President Obama's deep unpopularity, most key Senate races remain toss-ups, with many polls showing the GOP candidate trailing in the race," observed Mr. Viguerie.

Viguerie said that the positions of President Obama and the Democratic Party are behind by substantial margins on half-a-dozen key political questions, but boiled down to their essence they all fit broadly into these three issues:

Amnesty for Illegal Aliens
National Security
Obama and the Democrats' Culture of Lies

Americans are angered by the idea of an unconstitutional executive amnesty and the raw political calculation behind it and oppose amnesty by 8 to1, said Viguerie.

On national security Americans are frustrated by the contempt with which dictators, such as Russia's Vladimir Putin, view America under Barack Obama. Voters, particularly women, are fearful of a world where American defense spending is being cut, but their President has no strategy to confront the brutal jihadis of the Islamic State, and we face an increasingly hostile and expansionist Russia and the unknown threats presented by a porous southern border.

Likewise, Because of Obama's lies about everything from Obamacare, to Benghazi, to the threat posed by ISIS and the IRS targeting of conservatives, Americans are more distrustful of government than ever. Capitol Hill Democrats are fully invested in this culture of lies and the distrust of government that it has bred.
