RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtium, a leading provider of embedded SSD and industrial memory modules, today introduced the industry's first 16 gigabyte (GB) DDR3 Mini-RDIMM in the Very-Low Profile (VLP) 0.72-inch form factor.  Offering twice as much capacity per slot compared to competitive solutions at only 8GB, Virtium's new DDR3 VLP Mini-RDIMM module helps solve the ongoing demand for more memory in today's complex, feature-rich industrial embedded systems. The Virtium 16GB DDR3 VLP Mini-RDIMM is especially ideal for many networking and high end medical applications where low-profile height and small size are key requirements.

Designed to provide increased reliability and meet the demand for improved airflow in space-constrained systems, Virtium has applied a new layout technique that reduces the module's overall thickness while doubling the module density.  Virtium's 16GB DDR3 VLP Mini-RDIMM is available in 1.5V and 1.35V configurations for lower power consumption and can be screened for extended temperature operation.

"This latest Virtium DDR3 module gives our OEM customers needed higher memory density, bandwidth and lower power consumption that is supported by most advanced processors in the embedded systems market," said Phan Hoang, vice president of research and development at Virtium.  "Delivering these first-to-market modules in the 16GB density demonstrates Virtium's continued proven history of small form factor product development and technology innovation."
