Visiting Angels Sets Fundraising Record in Fight to End Alzheimer's

More than a Thousand Participants Team Up to Raise More than a Half Million Dollars for National Fundraiser

BRYN MAWR, Penn., Jan. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- An army of angels stepped up in the fight against Alzheimer's and shattered fundraising records. Visiting Angels, the nation's leading provider of in-home senior care and supporter of the Alzheimer's Association, is thrilled to announce that its network raised $548,000 for the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's national fundraising campaign.

"The Alzheimer's Association is near and dear to our hearts as we work day in and day out with families and their loved ones diagnosed with the disease," said Lary Meigs, CEO of Visiting Angels. "We walk and raise money for the Alzheimer's Association because we understand the trials and tribulations these families go through and we hope to find a cure someday. Until then, we'll continue compassionately serving these seniors and raising funds for the fight to find a cure."

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is held in more than 600 communities nationwide, making it the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research.

In 2024, Visiting Angels proudly served as a Platinum Sponsor, with 168 teams and 1,268 individuals taking part across the country.

• 5th Place: $20,000 – Angels on the Move – York, Pennsylvania
• 6th Place: $15,000 – Family Matters to Visiting Angels – Lancaster, Pennsylvania
• 7th Place: $15,000 – Visiting Angels Greater St. Charles
• 8th Place: $15,000 – Angels on the Move – Lancaster, Pennsylvania
• 9th Place: $15,000 – Visiting Angels Rochester, Minnesota
• 10th Place: $15,000 – Visiting Angels Southeast Michigan
• Rookie Rockstar: $5,000 – Visiting Angels Augusta, Georgia
• Top Individual: $5,000 – Lynn McKenna with Visiting Angels Eureka, California

The need to find a cure is growing, as the numbers of deaths from Alzheimer's between 2000 and 2021 have more than doubled, according to the Alzheimer's Association. The nonprofit finds nearly 7 million Americans are living with the debilitating disease.
