Visteon Products Shine on Fisker Karma Hybrid Electric Vehicle

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich., Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC) has started producing lighting and electronic products for the Fisker Karma, the world's first premium electric vehicle with extended range (EVer™). Visteon's components contribute to the Karma's sleek styling and performance, while maintaining Fisker's commitment to an environmentally conscious vehicle.

The Karma incorporates Visteon's advanced infotainment platform that allows technologies to be quickly added and customized for any market. The system provides state-of-the-art onboard navigation, AM/FM/satellite radio, USB/iPod® connectivity, and Bluetooth® wireless technology audio streaming and hands-free phone functionality. Visteon designed the user interface for all major vehicle infotainment and climate controls, accessed through a 10.2-inch haptic touch screen display that eliminates the need for mechanical dials and buttons, reducing materials and production tooling.

Additionally, Visteon supplies a premium audio system with multiple amplifiers and speakers. By utilizing a high-efficiency Class D audio amplifier, the system draws less current, supporting Fisker's green technology objectives.

The Karma's exterior design is accentuated with Visteon's bi-functional high-intensity discharge (HID) projector headlamp for high and low beam applications. The styling is further enhanced with light-emitting diode (LED) park, turn and daytime running lamps. "The headlamp provides the Karma with a distinctive appearance while meeting the demands of a fuel-efficient vehicle, since LEDs draw less power than conventional bulbs," said Jeff Stevenson, Visteon general manager, global lighting. 

Visteon provides engineering support and produces headlamps for the Karma in North America, and manufactures the electronic components in Europe.
