Vivere-Winter Park Partners With Local Businesses To Help Couples Increase Fertility With Some "Fun Shui"
Fertility center hosts first-ever Fertility Fun Shui on Thursday, July 24
ORLANDO, Fla., July 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Gone are the days when alternative medicine was considered to be "hip" or just a bunch of hocus-pocus. Today, more and more doctors are combining modern technology with holistic medicine to combat a variety of conditions from migraines to menstrual cramps. Just as alternative treatments such acupuncture and massage have helped those ailments, doctors are also finding that they may even give fertility a nudge.
However, it can be challenging to navigate the many available resources aimed at improving fertility. That's why Vivere-Winter Park Fertility Laboratory is hosting a first-of-its-kind event for women and couples hoping to conceive – Fertility Fun Shui – on Thursday, July 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at The Mezz, 100 S. Eola Drive in Thornton Park.
"Feng shui" is the ancient Chinese practice of arranging your environment so that energy or "chi" flows gently through your home or business environment. In this way your space feels good and supports what you want out of life—whether it's improved health, new romance or financial success. Fertility "Fun Shui," a play on words, is being held to help couples achieve "good fortune" when it comes to growing their families.
The free event will showcase Orlando businesses that offer resources to those who want to increase their odds of having a baby. Fertility Fun Shui will feature complimentary services such as massage therapy, acupuncture and fertility yoga as well as breakout sessions by Mark Trolice, M.D., medical director of Fertility CARE in Winter Park.
Board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Dr. Trolice offers patients hope in the form of advanced reproductive techniques including in vitro fertilization (IVF). He is passionate about helping his patients modulate stress and cultivate balance in life while trying to conceive.
"Too often, women have been told to 'just relax' and it will happen," Dr. Trolice said. "Not only have friends and family offered this advice but, unfortunately, for generations many women have been subject to this suggestion by their physicians."
According to Dr. Trolice, recent clinical studies indicate there is a link between stress and infertility. "Whether stress significantly increases infertility will certainly be debated for several years to come," he said. "However, we do know that fertility treatments can cause stress and impact quality of life. Anything we can do to modulate stress while trying to conceive can't hurt and may, in fact, help."
