PROVO, Utah, Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Vivint™, the largest home automation services company in North America, is celebrating National Child Safety Protection Month by providing families across the country with premier home security. National Child Safety Protection Month is a holiday dedicated to promoting child safety awareness and educating the population on the dangers children face every day.

Among Vivint's customers who are using home automation to keep their kids safe is Diane Vassos from Riverton, Wyoming. When Vassos's daughter had a Vivint system installed in her rental home to keep her three small children safe, they had no idea just how grateful they would be that Vivint was there. Less than two weeks after installing the system, Vassos's daughter left her youngest son at home with a babysitter for the day. In the middle of cooking dinner, the sitter experienced a medical emergency and blacked out. While she was unconscious, the stove caught on fire and filled the house with smoke.

"There was no one there to help the sitter or the baby," says Vassos, "but luckily the Vivint fire alarm system took over and sent the fire department into action. The alarm also alerted neighbors who were then able to get the baby and the sitter out of the house before any smoke inhalation occurred. I thank God and Vivint for the wonderful job it has done for our family. This system isn't only about break-ins—it's also a life saver!"

Another customer, Brian Smiley from Minneapolis, Minnesota, loves his system for its simplicity and usability for his children. Although Smiley and his wife were skeptical when the alarm company showed up on their doorstep, the couple has been grateful again and again that they switched alarm systems and were able to upgrade their home security for a price they could afford.

Says Smiley, "Once we switched systems, we were blown away. It has made our kids have a much easier time arming and disarming the system, and they feel more secure with the key fobs. It has made my wife and I feel better about being able to see our kids come home and know they made it okay. The text messages let us know that the alarm was armed, and even our youngest is able to get out of the house ok and on time. It has also helped with the peace of mind knowing all that technology is keeping us safe and secure. Thank you for your great service. I would have never imagined that all these great items would be available for such an affordable cost. Our peace of mind is something I couldn't put a price on, but I would have expected it to be much higher."
