Voyager Learning Launches Gold Star Reader Program

DALLAS, Nov. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Voyager Learning, the leading provider of preK–12 intervention learning solutions and education services, announces the new Ticket to Read^® Gold Star Reader Program, which gives administrators, teachers and parents the opportunity to take an active role in celebrating the success and progress of their students' reading practice.

Students earn Gold Star status by reading passages as they boost their reading skills and earn rewards in the award-winning Ticket to Read K-6 educational program. Teachers and school administrators receive weekly notifications of student achievements, as well as printable recognition certificates and posters to celebrate student success.

Dr. Johnson adds, "The greatest predictor of a child's ability to read in the third grade is a child's reading at level in kindergarten, and the greatest predictor of a child's ability to read in the eighth grade is a child's reading at level in third grade. Through the Parent Connection newsletter, available in both English and Spanish, parents and mentors also receive printable certificates to honor student achievement—helping to further enable children to practice. Schools gain Gold Star Status and are rewarded with a Gold Star Reader achievement banner when 90% or more of Ticket to Read students read one passage per week.
